Dr. Alexandra Chan (Katz) is a graduate of Boston University, where she obtained a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Psychology & Philosophy, New York University, where she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree, and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine / Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY, where she completed her post doctoral residency training with a focus in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Public Health.
Dr. Chan (Katz) then received her Master’s in Public Health Degree with a concentration in health policy and business management at Columbia University. She was also the recipient of the fellowship award from the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Katz also held a clinical faculty appointment at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine where she trained post-doctoral residents in public health dentistry & community health.
She has spent her entire clinical career working in federally qualified community health centers initially as a staff dentist in Connecticut. Within three years after graduation, she was appointed to senior leadership positions in New York State & then in Connecticut as Chief Dental Officer at the Cornell Scott- Hill Health Center in New Haven, Connecticut where she led a multi-million dollar oral health expansion program throughout the state of Connecticut for over five years.
Due to her leadership and efforts, failing medical and dental programs have been transformed into successful and fiscally viable organizations. She has significantly improved medical & financial outcomes of several institutions in which she has served & is passionate about tracking clinical quality outcomes and interdisciplinary care.
Dr. Katz is also a federal consultant for the Health Resources Service Administration (HRSA) & the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). She also reviews medical & dental malpractice claims for the Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC).
Dr. Katz is currently the Clinical and Administrative Dental Director & Department Head of ODA Primary Health Care Network in Brooklyn, NY, a multi-million dollar federally qualified health center serving the Williamsburg area of Brooklyn & lower Manhattan.
She has been a member of The National Network of Oral Health Access (NNOHA) for over 20 years & serves on the NNOHA Board of Directors. She is also on the Membership and Advocacy committee of NNOHA & serves as the committee chair. Dr.Katz also serves on the COVID 19 task force nationally & in New York State.
