International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples

The United Nations has dedicated August 9th each year as the International day of the World Indigenous People. The global community recognizes the contribution and achievements of this group, as indigenous peoples are inheritors and practitioners of unique cultures and ways of relating to people and the environment.

Their perspective on wellness embodies a holistic approach and considers the sum of a person’s physical, spiritual, emotional and intellectual well-being, as well as his or her place in the community. This year’s observance is dedicated to Indigenous Peoples’ Languages.
