WORLD HYPERTENSION DAY 2020

Do you know your NUMBERS? With the stressors we face amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the impact on blood pressure levels, especially for those who are hypertensive can be threatening. The World Hypertension League (WHL), annually promotes World Hypertension Day (WHD) which is celebrated on May 17th May and the theme for the past five years has been “Know Your Numbers” with the expanded theme for this year being, “Measure Your Blood Pressure, Control It, Live Longer”.

Hypertension is a major cause of a range of health problems such as strokes, heart attacks and kidney disease. The Health Policy, Research and Planning Department of The North West Regional Health Authority celebrates this day by bringing awareness to the importance of knowing your numbers as well as tips in the control and/prevention of high blood pressure for a longer, healthier and satisfying life. To keep ourselves healthy throughout this outbreak, we must take control of our lifestyles, bearing in mind that our health is our wealth.
