Dr. Mateus Fernandes is a physician practicing in Trinidad and Tobago. He received his Bachelor of Medical Sciences, and Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at the University of the West Indies, graduating with the highest honors.

Beyond providing compassionate patient care, his research interests include sleep medicine, diabetes, and preventative medicine. He has worked in both the primary care and hospitalist setting and recently participated in a National HPV DNA testing pilot study, working with the Ministry of Health of Trinidad and Tobago to introduce HPV DNA testing in rural settings.
