World Sight Day 2021

World Sight Day is an annual day of awareness held on the second Thursday of October, to focus global attention on vision impairment, including blindness. This year, World Sight Day will take place on October 14, 2021 with the theme: #LoveYourEyes. Nearly everyone on the planet will experience an eye health issue in his or her lifetime so it is very important that we are aware of our own eye health. #LoveYourEyes is all about being aware of your own eye health and if you are able to, get a sight test or recommend others do the same. According to a 2020 survey done by the National Eye Survey of Trinidad and Tobago (NESTT), the leading causes of blindness and vision impairment in adults over 40 years included glaucoma (31.7%), cataract (28.8%), and diabetic retinopathy (19.1%). This World Sight Day, find out what you need to do to PREVENT sight loss, and to PROTECT, PRESERVE and PRIORITISE your vision.
