Mental Health Resolutions for 2020!

Here we have some mental health resolutions that can serve you not only this year, but every year. These can help when you struggle with change, and can help you to maintain your sense of balance.

Resolution 1: Spend more time with your pet!

Studies show that pet owners exhibited greater self-esteem, were more physically fit, were less lonely, were more conscientious, more socially outgoing, and had healthier relationship styles, they were less fearful and less preoccupied, than non-owners.

Resolution 2: Spend more time outside!

The practice of taking a stroll in nature has become a cornerstone of wellness and healing. Ecotherapy, which is nature-based exercise designed to treat mental and physical health, is increasingly popular. It entails activities like hiking, going to Maracas Beach or walking around the Savannah!

Resolution 3: Laugh even more!

Another old adage is the one about “laughter being the best medicine”. Laughter has been shown to boost immunity, reduce stress, temporarily relieve pain, and even prevent heart disease. It has also been shown to have an immediate effect on happiness, as it triggers the release of endorphins.

Resolution 4: Practice positive self-talk.

We’re often our own worst critics. Happy people know how to silence this negative thought pattern and start their day with a positive thoughts about themselves. Start your morning off with daily positive affirmations.

Resolution 5: Be thankful!

Take a moment to be thankful for life and everything else that you have.  Recently, a number of studies have shown a link between gratitude and an increase in happiness. Making a daily habit of showing appreciation improves mental and physical health; allows room for more, and better, relationships; reduces aggressive behavior; and increases the likelihood that you will think positively about yourself, enabling you to experience positive emotions consistently.
